Prior to the big move to Oz in the 1800s, my family came from the Pocklington and Market Weighton area of Yorkshire. As a possible activity into further research I thought I might investigate modelling the area as a tribute to my forebears.
I have found some useful links to start the research from. I have settled on the Pocklington Railway Station and environs as it is the only one to date that has a surviving track layout to model.
Now I have to decide on period and scale. This will depend on availability of RTR or kit rollingstock. I would like to stay with either OO or British N scale as this is the more easily available to model. I have only just got back into the hobby and I have yet to reach the heady heights of scratchbuilding finescale models of more unique scales such as 3mm!
This blog aims to collate research initially into the Pocklington Railway Station and attendent freight yards of the pre-UK grouping North Eastern Railway (NER), the post-grouping LNER, or the post-nationalisation British Railways (North Eastern Region) railway station of that name for railway modelling purposes.
